Betie Scarf

This is a Bertie Scarf designed by Bronte. I knitted it using Artesano Alpaca. Colour: Lemon. This was my first attempt at knitting with beads and I'm very pleased with how the scarf turned out. The pattern is very well written and and easy to follow. I have some more Artesano Alpaca in my stash in Damson and Red and the beads to go with them so more Berties are planned for the future. If you want to knit a Bertie scarf the pattern can be found on Bronte's Blog or click on the duck button on the sidebar of my blog to join the Bertie KAL.

Slip Up Socks

These socks were knitted with the yarn sent to me by my Secret Summer Santa. (There's a pic of the skeins on a previous post). It's Natural Dye Studios Merino/Alpaca yarn. Not sure what the colour is as there wasn't a label on the skeins. The pattern is Slip Up Socks from Posh Yarns. They are a teeny bit tight so I may knit them again with 2.75mm dpns and actually knit them using some Posh Yarn!

My Hedera's

After knitting the Jaywalker socks, I decided to tackle some lacey socks so chose the Hedera pattern. I knitted these a while ago using Rowan 4ply soft which I bought from my LYS. I think the colour is Goblin but I can't find the ball band to be sure. I had some problems with ladders but apart from that I'm really pleased with how they turned out. Even the big heal is comfortable.

Butterfly Lace Socks

Have just started knitting a new pair of socks. This pattern is a Fiber Trends pattern called Butterflies & Blossoms by Evelyn A Clark. I'm knitting the butterfly pattern using 2.5mm needles and Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn. It seems a bit small but I did manage to get it on my foot ok but couldn't get it past my heel as the stitches were threatening to come off the needles. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll fit when it's finished. Anyone else knitted this pattern?

Stash Acquisitions

Thought I'd show you some pics of my latest yarn acquisitions. I love the colours of these yarns and can't wait to try them out.

This yarn I bought from Sunshine Yarns by Dani. The Colour is called Raspberry Limeade. It took about a week to arrive from the US and was my first purchase from Sunshine Yarns.

This yarn is also from Sunshine Yarns and the colour is called Violets. Lovely shades of purple and lilac. Yummy. I ordered this yarn along with Reef below and they took less than a week to arrive. The yarn is superwash merino and feels very soft. Luverly stuff! My friend undid the skein when it arrived thinking that it would be easy to wind back up. This was the best we could both do.

Oooh, I think this is my favourite colour! Bought from Sunshine Yarns, the colour is Reef. I love the shades of green, blue and purple. Have already wound it into a ball but haven't decided which sock pattern to knit with it. Any ideas? Nothing too complicated as I'm still a beginner :-)

I hadn't bought any Koigu before so treated myself to this colour which I bought from Get Knitted. Lovely shades of purple.

My Jaywalkers

These socks were my first attempt at a pattern after knitting lots of socks using the plain Opal Pattern. They are actually a bit tight but I'm hoping they'll be a better fit after I've worn them a few times!?

Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock
Colour: Hawaii.

Pattern: Jaywalkers by Grumperina

Sock Pics

Here are a few pictures of the various socks I've knitted so far.

This is the first sock I knitted. I used Opal Acapulco. I actually knitted them on the wrong sized needles so they're rather baggy but never mind.

Yarn: Opal Magic

Colour: 1051 Turquoise

Yarn: Opal Brasil

Colour: 5001?

Sock Blockers

I bought these sock blockers from Get Knitted last week. I would have tried to make the version out of an old wire coat hanger but do you think I could find a wire coat hanger in the house!! NO! I hunted high and low but they seem to have all been replaced by the plastic versions. So I thought I'd treat myself to these ones made by Fiber Trends.

My Secret Summer Santa Pressies

Although I received my Secret Summer Santa pressies a few weeks ago I thought I would post a piccie to show everyone what I received from my secret pal. I also wanted to say a BIG thank you to Mogiebear (my pal) who sent me lots of wonderful pressies.

  • I got a lovely felted handbag.
  • A very cute mini stuffed sock on a ribbon (which I absolutely love )
  • 2 hanks of Natural Dye Studios Sock Yarn (alpaca/merino) in lovely pale peachy/pink/blue colours.
  • 2 hanks of Silkwood Hand Dyed Yarn in gorgeous shades of pink and purple.
  • 2 Balls of Socken Wolle in a natural/cream shade (ready for dyeing)
  • 4 bottles of food dye (for dyeing above wool).

My Secret pal worked out that I love knitting socks and sent me wonderful sockie pressies. I've started knitting a pair of Slip Up Socks in the Natural Dye Studios yarn and have finished one sock. I'll post pics soon. I'm also knitting a pair of plain socks in the Silkwood yarn. I'm about to do the toe shaping on the first one. I'm looking forward to dyeing the natural wool with the food dye. I've only every dyed one lot of yarn before and that was with Kool-Aid so I'm looking forward to trying the food colouring this time.

My Sock Yarn Stash

Thought I'd show you a picture of my Sock Yarn Stash. Actually the pic is a bit out of date as I seem to have an addiction to buying sock yarn. I really should take a new picture of my stash but I might just give myself a shock at how much sock yarn I've got. I'm a new knitter and my knitting speed is "slow" so this stash is sure to last me quite some time.
